For first time under Ryan Day, Ohio State's spring game will include full tackling

For the first time on Saturday, an Ohio State spring game under Ryan Day will resemble real football. In 2019 and ’21, the Buckeyes coach wanted to minimize the risk of injury, so he limited contact to “thuds” instead of full tackling. The 2020 spring game was canceled because of the pandemic. Day is taking a different approach this year. The spring game will start with a thud period, but most of the scrimmage at Ohio Stadium will feature full tackling. Quarterbacks, though, are off limits to being hit, as is customary in OSU spring games.
