Ohio State freshman Gabriel Feinberg wins fencing national title as Buckeyes finish fifth

Staff reports  |  The Columbus Dispatch Freshman Gabriel Feinberg the won men’s epee at the NCAA fencing national championships Sunday in South Bend, Indiana, and the Buckeyes as a team finished fifth. Feinberg’s men’s epee title is the fifth in OSU history and third straight when Ohio State has competed at the national site. Marc-Antoine Blais-Belanger won in 2018 and Oliver Schindler was the 2019 champion. Feinberg and Bence Bende led the way for the men with top-10 finishes on the final day. Five OSU women placed in the top 12 over the first two days of competition, paced by Camilla Rivano, who tied for third.  Feinberg was the No. 4 seed but topped No. 1 seed Ian Sanders of NYU 15-14. Feinberg then beat No. 2 seed Nicholas Lawson of Princeton in the final 15-11. Notre Dame won the title, followed by Harvard, Columbia/Barnard and Princeton. Ohio State has finished in the…
