Ohio State basketball falls to Villanova 71-61, ending NCAA Tournament run


PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Ohio State basketball’s NCAA Tournament run ended Sunday with a 71-61 loss to Villanova in the second round at PPG Paints Arena. The Buckeyes went down by as many as 15 points in the second half before a late surge allowed them to crawl back into the game. They overcame a poor shooting first half (38.5%) while the Wildcats shot north of 53%. The Buckeyes once again lost big man Kyle Young after he took an inadvertent elbow in the head by Collin Gillespie. He left the game with 8:55 remaining, then OSU proceeded to make five of its next seven shots while Villanova suffered its first real scoring drought of the afternoon.
