Consistency remains essential for Ohio State women’s basketball’s NCAA tournament hopes

A 20-point loss to Indiana and a 19-point loss at Michigan showed the difficulty Ohio State’s women’s basketball team might have against the top teams in the Big Ten without a true, proven point guard and reliable inside presence. But beginning Thursday night against Illinois (5-7, 0-1 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. at Value City Arena, the Buckeyes (9-3, 1-2) have four winnable games — two on the road — in which they can find some rhythm and confidence before facing another top-10 squad in Maryland. In the most recent loss against a top-10 team, Ohio State shot at a high percentage and gave Michigan problems with its zone and full-court press at times.
