What Master Teague III’s NFL Draft departure means for Ohio State football


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Master Teague III always seemed to get more criticism for what he was not and not enough credit for what he was. He was not a dynamic open-field runner like some of the great running backs in Ohio State football history. He was, however, a productive backup for three seasons and, for much of the 2020 season when the Buckeyes had no other option, a productive starter as well. As Teague moves on to pursue the NFL Draft, take a moment to remember that mid-season span when Trey Sermon still had not clicked into cheat mode. Teague’s 110 yards and a touchdown helped salt away a victory at Penn State. His 169 yards and two scores in a 42-35 victory at Indiana were critical in keeping alive a national championship game drive.
