Ohio State football’s Marvin Harrison Jr., AKA ‘Route Man Marv,’ proved red zone value in Rose Bowl


PASADENA, Calif. — Down 14 points to Utah to start the second quarter of the Rose Bowl, Ohio State football quarterback C.J. Stroud asked coach Ryan Day to let him throw the ball on fourth-and-1. After receiving the green light, Stroud did not look for a quick bubble screen or a sit-down route to a tight end or a dump-off out of the backfield. He lofted a pass downfield to a true freshman who had caught five passes the entire regular season. That Stroud draped that pass over Marvin Harrison Jr.’s left shoulder hardly comes as a surprise anymore. That Harrison pulled in the pass in stride for a 25-yard touchdown reception certainly turned heads in the moment.
