Ohio State football’s Lathan Ransom provides update on his surgery for leg fracture suffered in Rose Bowl


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football safety Lathan Ransom said his surgery for a let leg fracture “went great.” Ransom made the announcement on Twitter, while also thanking fans, coaches and teammates for their “positive messages and prayers.” He suffered the injury while covering a kickoff return in the second quarter of an eventual 48-45 victory over Utah. “Can’t wait to get back to work!” Ransom wrote. Ohio State defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs told cleveland.com that Ransom would not be able to participate this spring but would be back for the fall. He ranked seventh on the Buckeyes with 38 tackles to go along with five pass breakups, one sack and one forced fumble. He is expected to be in the mix of a three-safety base defense under new coordinator Jim Knowles next season.
