COLUMBUS, Ohio — C.J. Stroud may have separated in Ohio State football’s quarterback competition, but on Wednesday he separated almost completely. Stroud took only a handful of reps, leaving the bulk of first-string action to Kyle McCord and Jack Miller. Ohio State coach Ryan Day later attributed the lack of action to a day of rest for the redshirt freshman and now presumptive starter. “Something typically we do in camp is just shut them down at times with their arms,” OSU coach Ryan Day said. “So that’s that’s all that was.” With Big Ten Network cameras in attendance, Ohio State opened its entire practice to reporters on Wednesday. It was the final scheduled viewing period, as the Buckeyes’ 12 remaining practices before the Sept. 2 season opener at Minnesota are expected to be closed.
