COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bennett Christian took a self-guided tour of Ohio State in August in the midst of a 15-month long recruiting dead period. Prospects couldn’t have face-to-face interaction with the coaches courting them or get more than a surface-level feel for the campuses they might one day call home. Christian walked around the outside of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and peered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the trophy lobby. “It was still pretty sick,” said Christian, a four-star tight end in the Class of 2022 who committed to the Buckeyes a few weeks after that trip to Columbus. The tour clearly made an impact, but even then Christian was still committing, to a degree, on blind faith.
