Texas and Alabama were considered serious contenders throughout his recruitment before the Buckeyes came swooping in at the buzzer. Ohio State did not offer until June 14. Exactly one week later, Brooks was in Columbus on an official visit. Defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs was able to accelerate the process.
