Ohio State football’s Jack Sawyer and Marvin Harrison Jr. first freshmen to lose black stripes this spring


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two of Ohio State football’s most touted incoming freshmen experienced a Buckeye rite of passage on Monday. Defensive end Jack Sawyer and receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. became the first Buckeyes from the 2021 signing class to lose their black stripes. Ohio State freshmen wear a black stripe on their helmets until the coaching staff deems them officially worthy of being called Buckeyes. Sawyer, from Pickerington North, was one of the vocal leaders of the 2021 recruiting class.
