Ohio State’s 2020-21 men’s basketball season will largely be remembered as a missed opportunity. And, because of that, it could ramp up the expectations for what the Buckeyes are able to do for coach Chris Holtmann in the 2021-22 season. The Buckeyes were rewarded with a No. 2 seed in the South Region for the NCAA Tournament. That was OSU’s highest seed in eight years, dating to 2012-13. That season, OSU was a two seed and advanced to the Elite Eight in the West Region before losing to Wichita State. That was OSU’s last Sweet 16 foray as well. This year, OSU’s season came to an unceremonious end after suffering a 75-72 overtime upset at the hands of No. 15 seed Oral Roberts in the NCAA first round on March 19 in West Lafayette, Ind.
