Is an Alabama-like dynasty attainable for Ohio State football, or anyone else?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Jan. 1, 2015, Ohio State climbed what had for so long loomed as distant mountain. The Buckeyes beat Alabama 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl that night in the semifinals of the first College Football Playoff. The significance extended beyond pushing Ohio State into the national championship game it eventually won over Oregon. The Buckeyes’ search for that next national championship continues. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide has won three of the six championship games since, including its beatdown of Ohio State to conclude last season. That recent run gives Alabama six national championships since 2009. Clemson is the only other program to win even two in the same span.
