COLUMBUS, Ohio — It’s just the beginning for recruits in the class of 2023. At this point in the process, most prospects do not even have stars assigned to their names, or a clue of where they want to play at the next level. For Timber Creek High School (Orlando, Fla.) offensive lineman TJ Shanahan and Connally High School (Waco, Texas) running back Tre Wisner, the former part of that statement is true. The latter, not necessarily. Shanahan, a 6-4, 300-pound offensive tackle, was offered by the Buckeyes on July 23, 2020 – hardly less than two months before the start of his sophomore season.
