How should Ohio State football fans feel about Ryan Day’s latest assistant coach hire? Buckeye Talk


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day has had to make three hires since putting together his initial staff as Ohio State football’s head coach, and none have required him to leave the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. His first was replacing Mike Yurcich with Corey Dennis as quarterbacks coach. Dennis has never been an assistant coach at any level, having spent the past two years in a senior quality control role for the Buckeyes. It’s fair to say he probably wasn’t qualified to be in charge of the most important position in sports at one of the top three programs in the country. Especially when that group was led by a returning Heisman Trophy finalist in Justin Fields and backed by two freshmen in need of a year of extreme development while fighting to be his successor.
