COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football fans can hate Clemson coach Dabo Siwnney all they want. They can call him cocky or even a hypocrite. They can roll their eyes at some of his holier-than-thou comments. They can call his explanation for ranking Ohio State so low on his USA Today coaches poll ballot disingenuous. What Buckeye fans cannot say is Swinney has not earned his arrogance. Clemson keeps beating Ohio State head-to-head on a national stage. Unless and until the Buckeyes prove it on the field, Swinney has every right to believe his is the superior college football program. Swinney’s latest comments were not even that controversial. Asked why he ranked Ohio State 11th on that coaches poll ballot, Swinney said he did not consider any teams who played fewer than nine games for his top 10.
