COLUMBUS, Ohio — Even as games dropped off the schedule due to coronavirus cancellations, the College Football Playoff selection committee has consistently given Ohio State a vote of confidence. That group affirmed its respect for the Buckeyes again Tuesday night in its penultimate rankings reveal for 2020. Ohio State was No. 4 — exactly where it was in each of the three previous rankings. The entire top five remained intact: No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Clemson ahead of the Buckeyes, and No. 5 Texas A&M behind. Ohio State has played only two games in the past five weeks. That lack of either exposure to losses or opportunity to prove itself, or both, has brought national scrutiny on whether the Buckeyes deserve to make the playoff.
