COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jack Sawyer has the easiest and maybe the most boring Ohio State football recruiting journey you’ll ever imagine. He committed as a sophomore at Pickerington North High School on Feb. 3, 2019, one month into Ryan Day’s tenure as head coach. His decision to commit so early is significant because the Buckeyes started their 2021 class off with who was considered at the time the No. 1 player in the country. Sawyer grew up 15 minutes from OSU’s campus, so staying home wasn’t much of a decision. Currently the country’s No. 3 defensive end and No. 4 overall, he accepted the challenge by defensive line master Larry Johnson. Once again, pretty simple. He wants to compete for national championships and the Buckeyes do that pretty much every year. Even his decisions post-commitment were simple.
