Ohio State has the Big Ten’s top offense and also arguably the conference’s best player in quarterback Justin Fields. Slowing down Fields and the No. 4 Buckeyes (4-0) will be the biggest challenge of the season for the Spartans (2-3). And first-year Michigan State coach Mel Tucker knows plenty about both the program and the player. Tucker spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Ohio State, including for the 2002 national championship team, and was also the defensive coordinator at Georgia in 2018 when Fields was a true freshman with the Bulldogs. Ohio State remains on track to play at Michigan State Fields, a former five-star recruit, spent one season at Georgia before transferring to Ohio State and had quite a debut year for the Buckeyes.
