Quinn Ewers’ commitment could be start of another big recruiting payoff in Texas for Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has made a habit out of going into areas where the college football programs aren’t succeeding at a high level and landing that state’s top recruits. Texas has always been a gold mine when it comes to football talent, and it’s become an area the Buckeyes became familiar with under Urban Meyer. Tom Herman has been Texas’ head coach since 2017. In his five recruiting cycles there, the state has produced 71 players ranked as top-100 recruits, including 22 five stars. Herman landed seven in his first class in 2018, but has managed only seven since then. That number dropped to six when Quinn Ewers — 2022?s No. 1 quarterback — decommitted two months after choosing the Longhorns and chose the Buckeyes on Thursday night.
