Rutgers plays closest game with Ohio State ever, falls in 49-27 loss


Greg Schiano’s mantra is not lip service. His Rutgers team does keep fighting – keep chopping – until the end. The Scarlet Knights were rolled by No. 3 Ohio State, 49-27, on Saturday night in Columbus, as was mostly expected. But they will have fans buzzing about a feisty, frenetic second-half effort chock full of gadget plays and grit that forced the Buckeyes to leave their starters in much longer than they wanted. Ohio State dominated the first two quarters and led by 32 points at halftime. The Scarlet Knights then notched three touchdowns after the break to outscore the Buckeyes over the final 30 minutes and cover a 38-point betting spread in their most competitive game against Ohio State since joining the Big Ten.
