COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State basketball’s Abel Porter will miss the 2020-21 season due to a non-COVID related medical condition ending his collegiate career. “This has been a difficult past few weeks for Abel and his family,” head coach Chris Holtmann said in a press release. “He is a tremendous person and I know he is very appreciative for the opportunity to be a Buckeye. Abel has expressed how thankful he is for the fantastic medical care he has received. He will remain a part of our program.” Porter was entering what would be his only season with the Buckeyes as a graduate transfer for Utah State. After coming to the Aggies as a walk-on he eventually earned a scholarship and became a starter. He averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 assists while starting 54 of 95 games.
