COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs vowed his secondary would be ready for inevitable tests to its depth this season. The test came with 30 seconds in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s 38-25 victory over Penn State. In one corner of the field, Nittany Lions receiver Jahan Dotson made a fantastic one-handed leaping catch for a 21-yard touchdown. In the other corner, Buckeyes cornerback Cameron Brown crumpled mid-stride and fell to the ground. As he was carted to the locker room, the non-contact injury had the tell-tale signs of an Achilles rupture — a diagnosis confirmed Monday night. Ohio State entered the season with precious little experience in its secondary. The Buckeyes relied heavily on third-year players with few first-string snaps to their name. Brown, with one career start and a two-deep role last season, qualified as one of the more experienced members of the group.…
