COLUMBUS, Ohio — Michael Woolridge, the head football coach at Columbus (Ga.) Hardaway High School, first started studying 2022 defensive lineman Mykel Williams when he was playing middle-school basketball. Immediately, he was impressed by Williams’ length and power. But he couldn’t have imagined the 27 football scholarships that have been offered by the country’s top programs. “A lot of coaches look at what kids can do for them now,” Woolridge told cleveland.com’s Kayla Harvey. “I look at what they could do two or three years down the road.” Williams became a starter as a high school freshman, taking advantage of a teammate’s injury.
