COLUMBUS, Ohio — The delayed start to Ohio State football’s season did not interrupt the Buckeyes’ annual status as one of the nation’s biggest television draws. Fox announced that Saturday’s OSU victory over Nebraska was the day’s highest-rated game. The 3.7 average metered market rating is the second-highest this season. Alabama’s victory over Georgia on Oct. 17 in a top-five matchup drew a 5.3, per Sports Media Watch. The top local markets for the OSU-Nebraska game came as no surprise: Columbus (36.7), Cleveland (21.4), Cincinnati (12.0), Indianapolis (6.9) and Detroit (5.0). The local numbers were helped by the Big Ten policy prohibiting fan attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ohio State-Nebraska also drew the highest rating of its weekend last season.
