COLUMBUS, Ohio — To those of you who should have been in the stands for Ohio State football’s season opener against Nebraska, know this — you were missed. I am not speaking on behalf of the Buckeyes or Nebraska. The absence of fans is something all teams will adjust to over the course of this precarious season as long as the Big Ten maintains a no-ticket sales policy. Ohio State did not need the home crowd advantage to beat the Cornhuskers 52-17. I missed you for all the ways you helped me do my job better and made it so much more enjoyable. During a typical game, reporters narrow their focus to the action on the field — sometimes to a single player, sometimes to someone not even involved in the play.
