Why Ohio State football is not on Nathan Baird’s Associated Press Top 25 ballot: College rankings


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Big Ten’s reversal on the cancellation of its fall season gave Ohio State football another chance to back up its preseason No. 2 ranking. The Buckeyes will need to wait one more week to find out how many of its preseason No. 1 votes it will take back from Clemson. The Associated Press decided all Big Ten teams would remain ineligible for this week’s poll. It explained that it wanted voters to have time to consider the Big Ten schedule — which was released Saturday morning — and to better identify which players who opted out might return to their teams. The AP decided that all teams would be eligible for the preseason poll but only those scheduled to play in the fall would appear in the polls thereafter.
