Alabama remains at No. 2 in coaches poll as Ohio State returns


Alabama remained at No. 2 in the coaches poll on Sunday despite Big Ten teams being considered once again for that poll. Ohio State, which held the No. 2 spot in the preseason coaches’ poll ahead of Alabama, returned to the poll but fell to No. 10. The Buckeyes were not considered in last week’s coaches poll but received votes again this weekend after the Big Ten’s announcement it would begin play Oct. 24. In one of the many oddities in polling this week — before the SEC and Big Ten start their seasons — Ohio State actually received more first-place votes (two) than Alabama (one). No. 1 Clemson, which improved to 2-0 with a win Saturday over The Citadel, took home 44 first-place votes and defending national champion LSU, still No. 5, received one.
