Ohio State football’s hope for a championship season started with the fight to play at all


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day will use this. Getting to play will become a push toward getting the Buckeyes to play their best. The second-year Ohio State football coach is like every football coach, which means he never stops looking for an edge. When you’re a favorite, like the Buckeyes so often are, it can be hard to stay sharp. When your true goals — the Michigan game, the Big Ten Championship Game, the College Football Playoff — are at the end of your schedule, it can be hard to stay focused. For the 2020 season, Day has an easy place to turn for a little motivational assistance.
