Ohio State football’s Ryan Day says Big Ten has ‘safe pathway’ for mid-October games


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day made a pre-emptive strike Thursday against any Big Ten assertion that it cannot play football this fall. Day released a statement Thursday criticizing what he called “disappointing and unclear” information from the Big Ten. He said players and parents have asked him numerous questions that he cannot answer because the Big Ten has not been more forthcoming with its reasoning behind the cancellation of fall sports and the continued lack of a play for another season. But Day also said the Big Ten has already explored an earlier return to play than the Thanksgiving weekend or January options publicly discussed.
