COLUMBUS, Ohio — Part of Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day’s push for a potential January season, was in hopes of having the early enrollees from the 2021 recruiting class be eligible to play. The idea was the class could play in a shortened winter season then play again in the fall while having it only count as one season of eligibility since both took place in the same calendar year. The hope of seeing players like defensive end Jack Sawyer and running back TreVeyon Henderson in January is potentially no longer an option.
