Ohio State football’s Haskell Garrett told police he was shot in the face while breaking up a fight


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State senior defensive tackle Haskell Garrett told Columbus Police he was shot in the face while attempting to break up a fight between and man and a woman early Sunday morning. According to the CPD incident report, Garrett said he was walking towards Chittenden Ave. and Grant Ave. when he encountered a man and woman “arguing and being aggressive.” Garrett said he told the man to stop fighting with the woman. He said the man turned towards Garrett, pulled out a handgun and fired. Garrett was struck in the face. The initial CPD news release said he suffered a through and through gunshot wound to both cheeks. Garrett said he then ran south on Grant Ave. towards a friend’s apartment.
