Details on how the Ohio State Buckeyes will ramp up football workouts amid coronavirus, starting Friday


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is taking the next step toward a football season, and these are the plans. This new phase of workouts starts Friday. • Following the first stage (voluntary workouts that began on June 8) this is the second stage of football preparation. • Players can take part in 20 hours of work per week, and no more than 4 hours per day. Those 20 hours can consist of: 8 hours of weight lifting and conditioning; 6 hours of walk-throughs, which means a football can be used but there is no contact and no helmets or pads; 6 hours of meetings, like with position groups or 1-on-1 with coaches. • Workouts at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center will include using weight rooms and the indoor practice field, but a program spokesman said the outdoor turf fields will be used as much as possible. • Players will continue…
