Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford has had a spectacular 2021 recruiting cycle including landing 5-star running back TreVeyon Henderson and high 4-star running back Evan Pryor. In addition to recruiting running backs Alford also recruits the state of Florida and is getting things started with some elite 2023 offensive linemen including T.J. Shanahan who was featured on Bucknuts on Thursday, as well as Payton Kirkland from Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips. Alford spoke with Kirland on Thursday. “I spoke with coach (Alford on Thursday),” Kirkland told Bucknuts. “It went great. My mom is a big Ohio State fan so she’ll be excited to speak with Alford.” That conversation will happen today.
