COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State basketball program has added a third player to its 2021 recruiting class in shooting guard Malaki Branham of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The four-star guard is rated as the No. 27 overall player and No. 5 shooting guard in the country. He chose the Buckeyes over nine other schools, including Alabama, Baylor and Louisville. With the commitment, Ohio State’s 2021 class holds the top three in-state players, along with Kalen Etzler and Meechie Johnson. It’s the first time since 2016 — Kaleb Wesson — that the Buckeyes have managed to land Ohio’s top players while also being their highest-rated class under head coach Chris Holtmann. Ohio State also landed Darius Bazley in 2018, but he later elected to go pro instead.
