Ohio State coach saw pro future for Dillon Dingler early on

Before Dillon Dingler ever stepped foot on Ohio State’s campus, Buckeyes baseball coach Greg Beals believed big things were in store for the 2017 Jackson High School graduate. “We were really excited about him in the recruiting process,” Beals said. “I was 100 percent confident he was a future pro. “Did I know he’d be sniffing the first round? That’s hard to say.” After being projected as a late first-round pick entering this week’s Major League Baseball Draft, Dingler ended up going 38th overall (the first pick of the second round) to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
