Ohio State football should not dismiss emerging threat from Big Ten’s Wild West: Buckeye Take


COLUMBUS, Ohio — More than a few options have been floated on how to make the Big Ten Conference’s East-West power balance more equitable. The most direct answer — West teams need to get better — may also be the most difficult to achieve. The East has won all five of the Big Ten Championship Games since the league split its divisions geographically. Ohio State won the past three. Three of the five games have at least been close, played within a touchdown. But the Big Ten badly needs someone from the West to rise up and bring some balance to league. Someone to emerge as a playoff contender — not merely a spoiler. The former may be a few years away, but the latter cannot be dismissed for 2020.
