COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defensive end Chase Young, whose dominant season included being named a Heisman Trophy finalist, and women’s hockey defender Jincy Dunne are Ohio State’s Athletes of the Year for 2019-20. Both will represent OSU on the ballot for Big Ten Athlete of the Year, which will be announced Thursday. Young was a unanimous All-American and winner of the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s top defensive player. He recorded an OSU-record 16.5 sacks in 2019, and his career total of 31 is second only to Mike Vrabel’s 36. In April, Washington selected Young with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft. He is the 11th football player named OSU’s male Athlete of the Year and second in a row after quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
