COLUMBUS, Ohio — We’re all in this together, at the mercy of the coronavirus and each other. So as we think about a college football season in the fall, and all the momentum that appears to be building toward games being played, let’s start with the road block. A surge of the virus could stop everything again, or at least stop a sport with as much contact as football. But when Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith last week outlined the Buckeyes’ plans, it was clear that one of the most important football programs in the country, in a state that has been taking serious coronavirus precautions from the start, had come a long way.
