Tunmise Adeleye, Ohio State football recruit, says rule allowing players to profit from their brand helped make Columbus a ‘perfect fit’


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Within minutes of the NCAA’s Board of Governors announcing a proposed new rule allowing players to make money off of their image and likeness, the Ohio State football team began to market itself. “Big city. Best fan base. Endless possibilities.” was the caption on a picture of downtown Columbus that OSU Director of Player Personnel Mark Pantoni tweeted out in a subtle promotion of the program. Those “endless possibilities” played a significant role in why four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye decided to join the Buckeyes’ top-rated 2021 recruiting class over 31 other schools. The proposed rule could come into effect as early as 2021, just as he is arriving in Columbus as an early enrollee after spending his senior season at IMG Academy.
