Ohio State basketball transfer Luther Muhammad announces he’s headed to Arizona State


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nine days after Ohio State announced that sophomore guard Luther Muhammad was planning to transfer, the former top-100 national recruit revealed that he will play next at Arizona State. Muhammad averaged 25 minutes per game (fourth on the team) and 7 points per game (seventh on the team) and left Columbus in search of a bigger role. A native of Jersey City, N.J., he’ll play now for Bobby Hurley, also a Jersey City native, who will be entering his sixth season at Arizona State. Muhammad joins D.J. Carton and Alonzo Gaffney as Buckeyes who have left the program since the end of the basketball season cut short by the coronavirus shutdown. On a 73-minute conference call with reporters Tuesday, Holtmann spent a lot of time talking about and talking around the issue of the OSU departures.
