COLUMBUS, Ohio — Which program deserves the identity of Defensive Back University? Ohio State has tried to rise above the debate, focusing on their self-proclaimed Best in America (B.I.A.) status. Rather than debate the merits of the question, the Buckeyes reject its premise. Sometimes, however, they can’t help themselves. Such as last Oct. 11, when SEC Networks Twitter account compared the accomplishments of LSU and Florida and asked “Who’s the real DBU?” Ohio State’s Twitter account jumped in. The not-so-subtle implication? Look north. Those supporting arguments dated back two decades. We want to know who deserves to be called DBU now. Five programs have legitimate claims to involvement in this conversation.
