Gov. DeWine: ‘Too early’ for decisions on Ohio State football, other large gatherings this fall


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Local and national leaders continue to assess when current restrictions on public gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic can be eased or removed. The path from allowing a few people to congregate and 100,000 people to populate Ohio Stadium, however, remains more difficult. Asked Tuesday during his daily coronavirus press conference if Ohio State football or professional sports would return to stadiums this summer and fall, DeWine said, “I don’t know on either one.” While the state can gradually ease restrictions in the future, DeWine said fans will ultimately have a large say in whether such massive sports gatherings will return. “I would say that as you look at any kind of coming back that large gatherings of people are going to be the last thing that you check off the box and say ‘OK, we should be doing that,’” DeWine said. “Again, it’s not going to…
