COLUMBUS, Ohio — One week after a flurry of defensive back commitments, Ohio State football remains in the hunt for more secondary talent in its 2021 recruiting class. Jaylin Davies, a cornerback from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, included the Buckeyes in his top seven on Monday. The four-star prospect, ranked No. 111 in the 247 Sports national composite, also listed Alabama, Arizona State, Texas, UCLA, USC and Washington. Ohio State has successfully pulled several top recruits out of California in recent years, including four-star quarterback CJ Stroud and safety/linebacker Kourt Wiliams in 2020, wide receiver Chris Olave in 2018 and offensive guard Wyatt Davis in 2017. Davies is teammates with another Mater Dei cornerback with an Ohio State offer: 2022 prospect Domani Jackson.
