Philadelphia Eagles decline 2020 option on Malcolm Jenkins, former Ohio State football star


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State football star Malcolm Jenkins is once again a free agent. The Philadelphia Eagles declined the 2020 option on the 32-year-old safety on Tuesday, making Jenkins a free agent when the league officially enters that period on Wednesday. Jenkins was a consensus All-American with the Buckeyes in 2008 and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s top defensive back. He was a first-round draft pick (No. 14 overall) of the New Orleans Saints and helped them win Super Bowl XLIV. He signed an unrestricted free agent deal with the Eagles in 2014 and helped them win Super Bowl LII. Jenkins made the Pro Bowl three times in a four-year span from 2015-18.
