Ohio State football assistant coaching salaries are out of control


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State will pay four of its 10 assistant football coaches more than $1 million in 2020, another salary escalation that makes it difficult to accept the idea of amateurism in college football. This is too much, and the Buckeyes are giving it out too easily. Of course, the coaches have always been paid and the players never have been. But now, too many assistants are getting rich off the work of players — and every coach will tell you it’s players that win. Ohio State paid an assistant coach at least $1 million for the first time in 2018, and now, it’s commonplace.
