COLUMBUS — Ohio State football rewarded its coaching staff for a return to the College Football Playoff in 2019 — and defended against the overtures some are receiving from other teams. Four Buckeye assistants will make $1 million or more in 2020, based on salary information released Monday by the university. Additionally, defensive line coach Larry Johnson, offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and receivers coach Brian Hartline also received significant raises over their 2019 salaries. Incoming defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs begins his second stint at Ohio State with a two-year contract worth $1.4 million annually. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day hired Coombs away from the Tennessee Titans, where he had been the secondary coach, to replace former co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
