Ohio State makes Mickey Marotti college football's highest-paid strength and conditioning coach, for now

Mickey Marotti, the strength and conditioning coach for Ohio State’s football team, is set to make $801,150 next season after a pay raise that was outlined in a letter obtained by The Dispatch on Monday. Marotti was paid $735,000 in basic compensation in 2019, the first year of a new contract signed last March. The four-year deal allows for him to receive annual pay raises that are set by athletic director Gene Smith and approved by the university’s board of trustees. The 9 percent pay raise makes Marotti the highest-paid strength and conditioning coaches in college football among public schools, according to staff salaries tracked by USA TODAY. It is a distinction, though, that he is likely to have for only a few months.
