INDIANAPOLIS — A year ago at this time, Damon Arnette Jr. had already climbed from modestly ranked high school prospect to Ohio State football starter to fringe NFL Draft prospect. That fringe was a long way from where Arnette wanted to be — and from where he stands today. “If you love a redemption story,” fellow OSU starting cornerback Jeff Okudah said, “you’ll respect Damon Arnette a lot.” Arnette said he thinks every day about his decision to put off the NFL Draft and return to Ohio State for the 2019 season. Multiple sources told Arnette he was not ready for the NFL, either as a player or a man. Arnette accepted that feedback and began pursuing what he called “major reformations” in his life.
