Ohio State freshman takes basketball break to focus on mental health


One of the Big Ten’s top freshmen won’t be on the court this weekend, and maybe not for a little while. Ohio State’s D.J. Carton shared a message Thursday evening that he needs to step away from basketball for a bit to focus on his own mental health. Carton has started three games for the Buckeyes this season, and has played at least 18 minutes in each game. “I have been suffering with mental health issues for a couple years,” Carton wrote. “I have been through a lot. I’m disappointed to say I’m not 100% right now. I am not doing my teammates justice if I don’t work on this now.
